Tianfu International Airport is the largest civil transport airport planned for construction during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period (2016-2020) in China. In this phase, three runways with a layout of "two verticals and one horizontal", a terminal building of 710,000 square meters and corresponding supporting facilities will be constructed. Engineering, fuel supply engineering, airline bases and mail processing centers meet the annual passenger throughput of 60 million passengers and cargo and mail throughput of 1.3 million tons. The long-term plan is to build six runways (four verticals and two horizontals), and a 1.4 million square meter terminal building to meet the demand for annual passenger throughput of 120 million passengers and cargo and mail throughput of 2.8 million tons. At present, Tianfu International Airport has entered the decisive stage to ensure that it will start operations before 30^th June. By then, Chengdu will become the third city with two international hub airports after Shanghai and Beijing in the mainland of China.
